This Black Crowned Night Heron was seen lurking around during a morning photowalk along the lush grounds of the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Hotel. Throughout my four day stay, this bird was only spotted once for a brief period of time. These adult night herons are unique in the fact that they do not distinguish between their own young and others from other nests, and therefore will brood chicks not their own. The Black Crowned Night Herons have been to know to nest in the same trees along with ibises and other herons.
